1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file placed by your browser on your device when you visit a site. It lets the site recognize the device on future visits, remember preferences or collect statistical data. We use cookies in accordance with Romanian Law No. 506/2004 on the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector, as subsequently amended, and with the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC. This policy covers both arcanetech.eu and the arcanetech.ro alias, which both serve the same content.
2. The categories of cookies we use
- Strictly necessary, indispensable for the site to function (session, security, storing consent choices). They do not require prior consent, under Article 4(5)(b) of Law No. 506/2004.
- Functional, they remember your preferences, including the language you chose, through the "NEXT_LOCALE" cookie. These cookies are required to provide the service you explicitly requested (showing the site in your chosen language) and do not identify you individually.
- Anonymous analytics, they collect aggregated data about how the site is used, with no individual profiles. Enabled only with your prior consent.
- Marketing, pixels and retargeting for Google Ads and Meta Ads campaigns. Enabled only with explicit prior consent.
3. The language cookie and automatic detection
On your first visit, in order to present content in the appropriate language without asking you, we transiently read your IP address, on the server, solely to derive the country you are visiting from and to choose between Romanian and English. The IP address is used only at that moment; it is not stored and not logged for this purpose, no profiling takes place and you are not tracked. The legal basis is legitimate interest, under Article 6(1)(f) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), consisting in presenting content in the appropriate language.
The chosen language is then remembered through the strictly functional "NEXT_LOCALE" cookie, which lasts 12 months. No consent wall is shown for language, because this cookie is functional rather than tracking and serves a service you explicitly requested. You can change the language at any time from the language switcher in the site header; your explicit choice is remembered and takes precedence over automatic detection. 4. The list of cookies
At the time this policy is published we only use strictly necessary cookies and the functional language cookie. Analytics or marketing cookies are enabled solely on the basis of your consent expressed through the banner.

5. How you manage your preferences
You can change your choices at any time by reopening the cookie banner through the "Cookie settings" button in the site footer, which reopens the preferences panel. Alternatively, you can delete the "at_consent_v1" and "NEXT_LOCALE" cookies from your browser settings. Modern browsers allow individual deletion or blocking of cookies (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge). Blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect how the site works.
6. Third-party cookies
The site currently integrates no external pixel or script without consent. When we integrate Google Analytics, the Meta Pixel or other similar services, this section will explicitly list the provider, the purpose, the duration and the option to withdraw consent. These services will be enabled strictly on the basis of your consent expressed through the cookie banner.
7. How long consent is kept
The choices you express in the banner are kept for a maximum of 13 months. The functional "NEXT_LOCALE" language cookie lasts 12 months. On expiry, we will ask again for consent to the categories that require it. Consent can be withdrawn at any time, without retroactive effect.
